 Spark Studio
Ages 4-7 (approximate)

We believe even the youngest child has important work to do, even if the work is imaginary play or working with wood scraps, ladders, and old tires to build a castle. Spark is best imagined as a garden where learners embrace Montessori work and loose-parts play to learn real-life skills and develop independence, focus, and kindness.

GOALS:
  1. Learn to focus and self-regulate.
  2. Learn the basics of reading, writing, and mathematical concepts.
  3. Learn to be a good friend and care for materials and physical space.

Discovery Studio
Ages 7-11 (approximate)

If Spark feels like a garden where learners accomplish important work through play, Discovery feels like a neighborhood where learners choose important work in core skills, engage in civilization discussions, and explore the arts and world around them through Quests (think hands-on projects on steroids). Learners solve problems, collaborate with peers, and engage in increasingly challenging games, where the stakes and time spent in collaboration is higher.

GOALS:
  1. Build a solid foundation in core skills (reading, communication, math).
  2. Be an independent learner -- set, track, and achieve goals.
  3. Be curious and ask great questions.

 Navigation Studio
Ages 11-14 (approximate)
Launching Fall 2028

Navigation is where young heroes work hard and play hard; engage in increasingly challenging Quests and communication work that culminate in public exhibitions and apprenticeships; develop a positive sense of identity; and build (and rebuild) a healthy studio culture, all of which prepare them for a Next Great Adventure in Launchpad.

GOALS:
  1. Learn to work hard and cultivate strong friendships.
  2. Master core skills and dive deep into Quests.
  3. Explore the real-world through apprenticeships.

Launchpad Studio
Ages 14-18 (approximate)
Launching Fall 2030

Launchpad is where young heroes prepare for their Next Great Adventure. Launchpad heroes read deep literature, discuss timeless moral dilemmas through Socratic discussions, dive deeply into rigorous Quests, secure apprenticeships that are closer and closer to their aspirations, and serve in leadership roles in Launchpad, Navigation, Discovery, and Spark studios; their community; and the Acton network.

ULTIMATE GOAL:

Discover and courageously pursue a Next Great Adventure — a superpower skill, industry, and place to live and work — where the young hero will find a calling that will change the world.
